Nāti Growth is the iwi investment entity for Ngati Porou working on behalf of our tribe and alongside future-forward partners, to preserve our traditions and taonga whilst cultivating our progress and economy.
Welcome to the heart of our heritage and vision at Nāti Growth, where tradition meets innovation to foster prosperity for our community of 92,000 members, rooted in the rich history of Eastern Polynesian explorers from over a thousand years ago.
Our tribe's essence is encapsulated within the lands stretching from Potikinui-a-Rua (Lottin Point) to Te Toka-a-Taiau (mouth of the Turanganui River in Gisborne), overseeing more than 62% of this territory with a blend of deep cultural connection and stewardship.
In 2012, a significant milestone was achieved through a partnership with the Government via statute, addressing past treaty breaches and laying the groundwork for establishing Te Runanganui o Ngati Porou.
This collaboration birthed entities including Toitu Ngati Porou, focusing on social, cultural, educational, and health initiatives, alongside the Ngati Porou Holding Company (now Nāti Growth), designed to catalyse our economic growth and sustainability.
At Nāti Growth, we are not just investing in assets, we are cultivating a legacy of prosperity, sustainability, and community empowerment.
Our commitment to the social development of our iwi is demonstrated through strategic investments and initiatives such as the Native Nursery project, which reflects our comprehensive approach to growth.
Additionally, our state-of-the-art extraction and processing facility, Porou Miere, located in Te Araroa, underscores our dedication to advancing both our community and industry.
The Nāti Growth brand mark comes from the group Ngati Porou and was designed by Ta Derek Lardelli. It connects us to our whakapapa - of Hikurangi our maunga (mountain), Waiapu our awa (river) and Ngati Porou our iwi (tribe). It acknowledges our tipuna Māui Pōtiki and Paikea and inspires us to work hard, seek knowledge, remember loved ones and be proud to walk together as Ngati Porou - i te ao, i te pō, i nga wā katoa.
